Yes this is us… Charlotte and Jon, a husband and wife team based on our family farm in Sand Hutton, near York. We live with our little ones Bertie and Mabel and a couple of dozen free range chickens and super sprocker dog Flo!
Patisserie and potato’s are our day jobs – Charlotte as a wedding cake baker extraordinaire and Jon aka (Mr logistics and lawnmower man) helps farm several hundred acres of potatoes and grain bringing chips and crisps to the masses.
Since moving into our beautiful farmhouse, at White Syke Farm, in 2018, we’ve been working like little beavers to transform our empty derelict barns into a funky and fabulous wedding venue and event space. We have put our heart and soul into it and it’s mega…if we do say so ourselves!
Forever a work in progress we are adding extra features all the time to make it even more special.
OWNER & CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Charlotte is the spark that created the incredible venue and will be the one walking you through the space with infectious energy. She knows the Barn inside out and she’s never short of ideas to get you excited about what’s possible.
Venue Manager, coordinator, and stylist
Steph’s your partner in crime from planning chat to the final dance, calm under pressure but bursting with creativity she’ll wrangle the details and keep the vibe stress free.
farmer/groundsman
Jon is the behind-the-scenes legend keeping everything looking sharp: lawns mown, wildflowers blooming, drains unblocked - he makes sure the backdrop to your “I Do“ is flawless.
SMALL BUT MIGHTY
These days, we’re lucky enough to host a vibrant mix of creative and diverse weddings, unique workshops, and events. Our Winter in the Wheelhouse market is now in its sixth year—and still growing strong.
The Story Continues
We added funky new wooden-clad loos (yes, check out the wallpaper!) and built a stylish outdoor bar—just right for laid-back summer celebrations and late-night toasts.
Little Touches, Big Impact
We created a brand new paved courtyard area, perfect for al fresco drinks, canapés, and music under the stars—complete with festoon lights and a beautiful statement olive tree at its heart.
New Courtyard Vibes
We built The Roost—our laid-back undercover lounge space, complete with Chesterfield sofas and a huge wooden table for sharing stories and drinks. And the barns starred as a film set for a feature film with Liz Hurley, John Cleese, and Kelsey Grammer!
Lights, Camera, Action
With weddings on hold, we focused on enhancing the venue—adding new features and rethinking how to host safely. From virtual viewings to socially distanced ceremonies, we adapted and kept the love alive.
The Pandemic Pause
Just a year after moving in, we hosted our very first weddings—an unforgettable milestone. We also launched our much-loved Winter in the Wheelhouse market as a showcase for local creatives and small businesses.
THE FIRST OF MANY
We moved to the farm and instantly saw its amazing potential. With big dreams and lots of elbow grease, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work transforming the old grain store, mechanics barn, and chicken sheds into something special.
